Trek Madone SLR Gen 8, represents an epochal turning point for the House of Waterloo.

THE UNION OF TWO WORLDS
This new model replaces the Gen 7 Madone and the Émonda. Taking the best of both worlds, as light as the Emonda and as fast as the Madone, the new Madone is the ideal road bike for everyone.

Several prototypes were developed to obtain the best performance between weight and aerodynamics. All tests were carried out in the wind tunnel with a 'pedaling dummy' on the saddle, in order to reproduce a real simulation of use, simulating different weather and surface situations.

OCLV CARBON 9000
The Optimum Compaction Low Void Carbon (OCLV for short), used in the new Madone, is a carbon fiber compacted using heat and pressure to achieve the perfect ratio of carbon to resin. The process uses heat and pressure, and is carefully monitored to reduce voids, or spaces between layers of carbon. These spaces reduce the strength and life of the carbon fiber.

The Madone 8 debuts 900 OCLV Carbon, the highest level TREK has ever achieved. The number indicates the degree to which the layup has been optimized for strength and stiffness. The higher the OCLV level, the less material is needed to achieve the same strength in the final product. 900 OCLV Carbon is stronger than 20% compared to the previous 800.

ISOFLOW
This patented Trek technology allows for flex over bumps in the road for a smoother ride. By reducing weight and improving aerodynamics, the Madone 8 provides 80% more vertical compliance than the previous generation.

NUMBERS COMPARED
Comparing the new Trek Madone SLR Gen 8 framesets to the Emonda SLR and Madone SLR Gen 7 we find that:

• Madone Gen 8 is as light as the Emonda
• Madone Gen 8 is as fast as Gen 7
• Madone Gen 8 is 77 seconds faster than Emonda in an hour
• Madone Gen 8 is 320 grams lighter than Madone Gen 7
